Could this be the new fashion extreme for Autumn Winter 2010?

Hello guys,

Fashion week! We are soon approaching the first fashion week of the calendar around the globe and this time of the year I am already wondering which new trends the designers will come up with, which is going to be the next 'it' bag and who is going to design the most amazingly mad pair of shoes out there?
Well, from what we have seen in the last fashion week back in September, footwear is getting wilder and wilder by the minute.

Spikes, studs, platform, black, patent and straps bondage style are always in popularity and in fashion. So, I just came across these shoes and boots which could be something you would find on a catwalk, freshly designed and costing a small fortune in the near future...

Quite cool aren't they? But hang on these shoes do have a twist...

They are from an Italian website, called 'Punitive shoes' specialising in....you guessed it, fetish shoes.
These pony shoes for instance, have removable real iron horse shoes attached to the bottom, so they can also be worn just as a normal platform.

(Pictured below is Daphne Guinness, socialite, who I much admire for the way she expresses herself. She buys her platform shoes from the fetish shop 'House of Harlot'.)

Since we are talking about extreme shoes...

Not so long ago I had the chance to try the 'Alien' shoes by Alexander McQueen!
I was doing some work experience at Elle magazine when they arrived... Oh Lord, I tried the snakeskin ones, pictured below and actually, they were not that uncomfortable on the inside. Yes, they are extremely high indeed, but due it's being a platform, my feet inside this gorgeous monstrosity felt OK, it's almost like a shoe inside another. I has 2 zippers for closure at the back, one for the shoe and one for it's 'cast'.
However, they were very very uncomfortable at the front of the feet, on the top close to my ankles. Because they were 10 inches high, they were really tight there, in order to hold your feet in and give you some stability...which soooo didn't happen!

Hats off to Lady Gaga and Daphne Guinness, again, pictured below - her wardrobe is a fashionista's dream - and to the models, for being able to walk on them, because I wasn't able to at all. I had to stand with the help of 2 people, one holding each arm, pathetic!

So, I have always thought about what makes these shoes acceptable by the consumers as opposed to those available at one’s local fetish boutique. After all, shoes like these have been available in such shops for many years.

See you soon.
