Fashion Rio S/S 2010/2011 Capsule post 1

Hi guys,

Fashion Rio has just finished a couple of days ago, it was happening from the 27/05 until the 01/06, there were 35 different brands showing their collection in Rio, Brazil. Now that is all over, I decided to show you guys my favourite collections in a capsule post. Better than one, there will be 2 capsule posts for the Fashion Rio with different themes.

So the first capsule post is about PRINT!

Spring/Summer has everything to do with Rio. Sun, sand and beautiful girls are everywhere and the inspiration for a vibrant, colourful and bold collection must come almost naturally.

There was a lot print in most of the collections, hence the inspiration for this post. Prints, prints, prints everywhere... some gorgeous ones, some others slightly more wacky, there were prints in silk, cotton and in light tricot fabric too. The new Girl of Ipanema goes out in flowers (big and small), tie dyes, neon, abstract and digital prints.

Juliana Jabour:

From Juliana Jabour collection there 2 things that I particularly have fallen in love with. The first is this dirty looking, distressed fabric, you can see on the first 2 pictures. Which amazing fabric is that I wonder? The jacket and the dress are divine. Cool cut, looks great.
Secondly, I loved her abstract print, the colours are lovely and go really nicely together.

Isabela Capeto:

Romantic with small floral prints. There was a certain element of fun too, with the blurred digital floral. The leggings are a must to go completely OTT.

Alessa:

One of my very favourites! The whole collection was fabulous and was difficult to pick just 4 looks. The prints in my opinion are the most beautiful of the entire event. Possibly because those pieces remind me of the McQueen prints. I might be wrong in saying, but I believe their inspiration must have come from the 'genius' and you could never go wrong with that.

Teca:

Pretty in pastel and romantic floral, perfect for a walk around town. I love the idea of the glittery bottle necklace and I LOVED those shoes too! They are fierce.

Lucas Nascimento:

Surprisingly, his Summer /Spring collection was made of light tricot, and lurex. The effect is beautiful and very original specially with the pleated details. Something a bit more avant garde, not like most of the collections. (A bit too cool for Rio... am I going to be hated by my 'carioca' readers? laughs.)

New Order:

Neon girl and rave girl, are sure to be lovers of New order's collection. I love the look number 3, I like the colours and how those layers were combined. The rest is just for a bit of fun but I also loved the studded details on the trainers and on the bags.

The summer seems to have arrived... do you feel inspired by any of the prints or the collections above for your summer look?

See you soon with my capsule post 2 - Textures.
